District Attorney Hoovler and FOP President McGinn Announce 2017 Law Enforcement Memorial Service
Honoring Law Enforcement Officers Who Died in the Line of Duty
Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler and Michael McGinn, President of the Fraternal Order of Police Jason Conklin Memorial Lodge #957, announced the upcoming 2017 Orange County Law Enforcement Memorial Service. The annual event honors Orange County law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty, and whose names have been enshrined on two memorial walls outside the Orange County Courthouse in Goshen. The service will be held on Friday, May 5, 2017, at 6:00 p.m., at the entrance to the Courthouse. Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus and Orange County Sheriff Carl E. DuBois will be present and speak at the memorial service. The memorial service will also honor the memory of the 30 members of the Orange County law enforcement community that have made the ultimate sacrifice, as well as their families and the loved ones they left behind. “Law enforcement officers put their safety and, indeed, their lives on the line every day,” said District Attorney Hoovler, “all in the interest of keeping the rest of us safe. We should honor the brave men and women who put on a uniform for our benefit, while they are alive, and certainly after they have paid the ultimate price in the performance of their duty.” The service will last approximately one hour, and is open to all members of the law enforcement community and to the general public. A reception will be held in the courthouse lobby after the service.
