Concert for Port Jervis Warming Station to be held
November 8 @ 7:00 pm
PORT JERVIS — The Interfaith Council of Port Jervis has been busy getting things ready for the fourth season of the Port Jervis Warming Station. The warming station was launched in 2016 on December 1 and ran through March 31. This past winter season the warming station opened a bit earlier and stayed open a bit later, providing much needed overnight accommodations for 84 different guests each year, with a total of 1386 overnight stays. More than 60 overnight volunteers helped staff the program with additional volunteers offering a hot evening meal. Volunteers are always welcome and can sign up at mealtrain.com/m7y677.
Training on site is available.
The Interfaith Council is working on raising funds to make sure that the warming station can again be run safely and efficiently for everyone. As one means of helping the Interfaith Council reach their goal, a concert will be presented at First Presbyterian Church at 60 Sussex Street in Port Jervis on Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. The concert is sponsored by the Four Seasons Chorale and will also feature other local musical groups. A free will offering will benefit the warming station. If you’d like to donate directly to the warming station, checks may be made payable to DRC-Interfaith Council and mailed to Deerpark Reformed Church, Attn. Interfaith Council, 30 East Main Street, Port Jervis.
